9 Simple Steps to a Good Volume Count

1.) Sort manual mail.

2.) Mark each packet in your case with a green card.  Keep packets in a separate tub for verification/documentation.

3.) Pull Permanent COANs with mail from case (leave Hold mail and Temporary COAN mail in the case to be counted - this mail will have to be delivered eventually, so it gets counted in the volume count).  Pull all remaining COANs and place to the side.

4.) Inform your RMO you are ready to have your mail counted.

5.) When waiting for your counter help confirm and record PCIs Values, COANs, mis-sorts, and RTS mail with your Union Observer.

6.) Observe and confirm counter is counting all mail in your case correctly.

7.) Tie out mail (don't forget to pull Temporary COANs/Holds and hazard cards).

8.) Have your mail, packets, and satchel weighed (No Flyers, but LFTs should be stackable and weighed).

9.) Load truck/give relay bags to driver, and leave.
